Sir Dermot Boyle
Sir Dermot joined the RAF in 1922 as a Cranwell cadet. Following a distinguished career as a pilot and later as a staff officer, he became Chief of the Air Staff in 1956. In retirement Sir Dermot was actively involved in organisations which support both serving and former RAF personnel. One of his greatest legacies is this Museum which was opened thanks largely to his enthusiastic encouragement and support, with Sir Dermot becoming our first Chairman of Trustees.
