Gloster Meteor F9

The Gloster Meteor was the first British jet fighter, and the Allies' only jet aircraft to achieve combat operations during the Second World War. The Gloster Meteor F8 was the last aircraft to be operated by No. 601 Squadron. In 1957 there were defence budget cuts and the Royal Auxiliary Air Force squadrons, including 601, were officially disbanded.
