Jaguar in operation
A British Aerospace promotional film
The Jaguar was the first international joint venture front-line combat aircraft, developed by Breguet of France and the British Aircraft Corporation. It was intended to be both an advanced supersonic trainer and a light strike aircraft. Production was undertaken in both countries with the prototype first flying in 1968. The first RAF Jaguar was delivered in 1973. It eventually equipped nine squadrons in the RAF mostly in the ground attack role although one squadron, No. 41, had a dedicated tactical reconnaissance role.
