Flight Lieutenant Alice McDermott
Alice McDermott went to university on an RAF cadetship to become an engineering officer but after a change in the law allowing women to be pilots Alice applied to become a pilot. She was streamed onto fast jets and was the second female to fly a Tornado in the RAF, but before being declared combat ready on Tornado, Alice transferred to multi-engine aircraft and became a Hercules pilot flying numerous tours in Iraq and Afghanistan After 23 years as a regular Alice is now a Baptist Pastor and Chaplain in the Royal Auxiliary Air Force.
