Claude’s Restaurant & 601 Room
601 Room (named for the squadron) is located to the rear of Claude's Cafe. The display case includes trophies and tableware that were used by No. 601 Squadron at their official dinners. The tables in the room also feature collages made by community participants as part of the RAF Centenary: Historic Hendon project, and tell stories about the squadron. Legend has it that the founding Commander, Lord Grosvenor, tested potential recruits for No. 601 Squadron by plying them with alcohol to see if they would behave inappropriately - Lord Grosvenor wanted to ensure they could share and enjoy his favourite pastimes: eating, drinking and White’s Gentlemen’s Club.
