RAF Hendon Historic Buildings
No. 601 Squadron was based at RAF Hendon twice, from 18 January 1927 to 2 September 1939, and again from 10 May 1946 to 28 March 1949. Several of the site’s remaining historic buildings were constructed in the 1930s to serve the Auxiliary Air Force. Building 52, now Claude’s Restaurant, was the station stores. Building 51 was a workshop and Building 69 was a parachute-packing shed. All buildings still show visible camouflage paint on the outside.
